About Singing Bowls in General:
————————————————
Singing Bowls originated in the pre-Buddhist shamanic Bon Po culture of the Himalayas. Often called “Tibetan” Singing Bowls, they are actually made in Bhutan, Nepal, and India. The Bowl culture seems to date back to the Bronze Age in China some 3,000 years ago.
Singing Bowls vibrate to produce sound characterized by a fundamental frequency, usually with two audible harmonic overtones. They can vibrate five individual and simultaneous tones, each at its own consistent frequency, and can sustain a vibration for several minutes.
Some sources state that the Bowls are made of seven sacred metals, corresponding to the known seven planets.
Gold-Sun, Silver-Moon, Mercury-Mercury, Copper – Venus, Iron-Mars, Tin-Jupiter, Lead-Saturn.

The Singing Bowl as an Ancient Tradition:
—————————————————————
One has to understand the deeper underlying meaning of Singing Bowls because in Tibetan culture, not only were they used to eat out of, but also as ritual offerings to their Gods. The sound of the Bowl, therefore, had to be pure and universal for it to be worthy as an offering to the highest order. Some accounts say that it is forbidden even within the monasteries to talk about the Bowls. Some say the highest Lamas used them in rituals to travel to other dimensions…
The legends say that the secrets of sound yield so much power that it must be kept hidden. We do know that the act of listening to the sound of Singing Bowls stops one’s internal dialogue, making the Bowls an excellent tool for meditation.

How to Play the Singing Bowl:
———————————————
Hold the Bowl with your palm (place an open hand under the Bowl) and rotate the wooden striker firmly around the edge of the bowl with an even pressure and uniform speed to produce vibration/sound.

Vibration/sound can also be produced by hitting, “gonging”, the Bowl with the Striker.

The Singing Bowl as a Therapy Tool:
——————————————————
Singing Bowls are used by healers to tune and balance the human energy field. The sound and feel of a large Singing Bowl vibrating on one’s chest or abdomen is transmitted via the skeletal system through the entire body. Singing Bowls are used in health care by sound healers, psychotherapists, massage therapists, cancer specialists, as well as stress and meditation specialists. They are used to treat PTSD. They are popular in classrooms to help facilitate group activities and focus students’ attention. The Bowls are useful for balancing Chakras (energy centers) and helping to lead a better, more prosperous, and healthier life.

Chakras are Entry Gates of the Aura and the energy of the body.
The word “Chakra” in Sanskrit translates to a wheel or disc. They are centers of activity that receive, assimilate, and express life force energy. They are responsible for the person’s physical, mental, and spiritual functions. There are seven main Chakras located along the centerline of the body, from the base of the spine to the top of the head. Each Singing Bowl collaborates with Body, Mind, and Spirit to enhance major Chakras:
